The Association for the Preservation of the Roman Amber Road in Burgenland is a not-for-profit organisation, founded in the early 1990s. Working in conjunction with the Provincial Museum of Burgenland and the Federal Department of Heritage Sites, it’s aim is to restore and maintain the Roman trace of the Amber Road from Savaria to Carnuntum and make it available for tourism. Numerous projects have been completed: Historical information boards have been set up along the route, a bicycle path connecting the most important sites was installed, and a bicycle map of the area published. A sensational moment in the history of the association was the unveiling of a replica of the famous “Ritual Device of Haschendorf” on the site where it was discovered.
